| 2013 Little League Baseball® World Series Teams Paired with Team Hosts

Every year, the focus of the 2013 Little League Baseball® World Series is placed squarely on the players from the 16 teams that come to South Williamsport, and it is up to the 32 team hosts, known as their uncles and aunts during the 10-day series, to make sure those players have a Little League® experience that lasts a lifetime. The 67th Little League Baseball World Series will be played Aug. 15-25.

| Little League® Amps up for Grand Reopening of the World of Little League

On September 4, 2012, Little League® Baseball and Softball closed the doors of the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum and started a $4.3 million renovation process. Nine months later, the organization is putting the finishing touches on the museum in preparation for an on-time grand reopening on June 15, 2013.

| First-Ever Australian Little League Baseball® Team Wins Its Way to Williamsport

The 2013 Little League Baseball® World Series has its first Region Champion, and they’ve already made history. On Wednesday, June 5, the Perth Metro Central Little League in Perth, Australia won the inaugural Australia Region Tournament in Queensland, Australia, earning its way to compete in the Little League Baseball World Series in South Williamsport, Pa.

This year, 16 teams from southern California and three teams from Mexico will bring players with developmental and physical challenges to the event. This is one of two Western Region Challenger events, with the Western Region Challenger Jamboree taking place May 24-26 at the Dublin, Calif. Sports Park.

Little League® Baseball and Softball will hold the inaugural Jake Hardison Memorial Challenger Jamboree at the Azalea Little League Complex in Norfolk, Va., from May 10-12. More than 1,000 children with developmental and physical challenges from 59 teams are expected to participate in this year. The teams are coming to Norfolk from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

| World of Little League to Feature Items from Carl E. Stotz Collection

Seventy-five years ago, during the summer of 1938, Williamsport resident Carl E. Stotz hit upon an idea that would become the world’s largest and most respected organized youth sports program. The next year, on June 6, 1939, the first Little League game was played. Only three teams existed at that time, and nobody could know how if the program would survive past its first year.

 | Honda Donation Helps Preserve Baseball and Softball Season for Staten Island Little League

Honda, the official vehicle sponsor of Little League® and national sponsor since 1996, donated $50,000 to the Staten Island Little League to help rebuild their baseball facilities, which were severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy. With Honda’s donation, storm ravaged fields, bleachers and dugouts will be repaired in time for the league’s 32-team opening day on April 20th.
