Tony Richardson (Neptune, N.J.; New Jersey District 11 Administrator), Bob Toigo (Sammamish, Wash.; Washington District 9 Administrator), and Jolly Gomez (Manila, Philippines; Philippines District 1 Administrator), assumed their seats on Friday, November 14, at the meeting in South Williamsport, Pa., where the Board also approved the 2015 dates for the nine Little League World Series events.

Dong Wan Sin went 2-3 and hit a home run, helping Asia-Pacific to an 8-4 victory over Great Lakes on Sunday at Lamade. He singled in the third inning and homered in the fifth inning. Hae Chan Choi got the win in relief for Asia-Pacific. Choi pitched four innings and allowed three runs.

Southwest beat Latin America 7-4 in seven innings on Saturday at Bangor, Maine behind John Doxakis, who went 2-4. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second inning. Joe Gobillot got the win for Southwest. He allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings. Gobillot struck out six, walked four and gave up four hits.

Asia-Pacific beat Southwest on Saturday 9-1 at Taylor, MI in seven innings. Asia-Pacific scored three runs in the seventh on Asia-Pacific scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Pei-Fong Dai, an RBI single by Yen-An Lin, and an RBI single by Li-Heng Chen.

Jordan Bernard, an RBI single by Maddie Uschock, and a walk by Stacey Walling. Natalie Lopez was hot from the plate for Latin America. Lopez went 3-4 and scored one run. She singled in the second, third, and fifth innings.

As Little League® celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2014, the organization is proud to congratulate Rob Manfred, a graduate of Rome (N.Y.) Little League, on his election as the 10th Commissioner of Baseball. Mr. Manfred will be the first Little League graduate to hold the position, which has been a long-time supporter of Little League Baseball and Softball. Little League found three of Mr. Manfred’s Little League rosters from 1968, 1969, and 1970, in our archives at the World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store.

As Little League® celebrates its 75th Anniversary at the 2014 Little League Baseball® World Series, the league representing the Canada Region has won its way to compete in South Williamsport. In Valleyfield, Quebec, South Vancouver Little League from British Columbia, Canada, captured the banner as Canada Region Champions with the 4-1 win over Toronto High Park Little League from Toronto, representing Ontario, on Sunday, August 10. With their victory, South Vancouver Little League completes the field of International Region Champions competing in the 2014 Little League Baseball World Series.
llbws152Pennsylvania State Champions Taney Little League from Philadelphia Wins 2014 Mid-Atlantic Region Championship, Advancing to the Little League Baseball® World Series

The spotlight has been on the girls playing in the Mid-Atlantic Region Championship, and Taney Little League's Mo'ne Davis embraced her moment to shine. Newark National LL wasn't able to score a run off of Mo'Ne during her six innings on the mound and Taney LL took home the win, 8-0, capturing the Mid-Atlantic Region Championship and the last spot in the Little League Baseball World Series field of 16 teams.

Saturday was a rough outing for Nick Croteau, but Cumberland American LL still managed to pull out a 10-6 victory over Fairfield American in six innings at Breen Field. Croteau gave up five in 4 1/3, but the bullpen surrendered one run and the offense banged out 10 to pick up the slack and secure the win for Cumberland American LL.

Mountain Ridge LL jumped out to an early lead on Pacifica American LL and captured an 11-2 victory on Saturday at Houghton Stadium. With 10 runs in the first three innings, Mountain Ridge LL left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

Pacific LL and Bend North LL traded the lead four times on Saturday, but Pacific LL ended up on top with a 6-3 win in six innings over Bend North LL. Pacific LL finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. A two-run error scored Ben Grant and Tyler Durbin and gave Pacific LL the lead for good.

Saturday wasn't a banner performance for Joshua Houston, but Jackie Robinson West LL still managed to pull out a 12-7 victory over New Albany LL in six innings at Stokley Field. Houston gave up six in 3 1/3, but the bullpen surrendered one run and the offense banged out 11 to pick up the slack and secure the win for Jackie Robinson West LL.

Shaina Reed kept DE District three off the board during her eight innings of work and East beat DE District three, 1-0. Reed struck out seven and allowed one walk and seven hits.

Nichole Kirkpatrick threw a shutout to lift Central to a 5-0 win over West at Bruce Layton Field in seven innings. Central's Kirkpatrick kept West off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up six.

South Nashville outlasted Tuckahoe American on Friday after six lead changes, squeaking out a 9-4 win at Warner Robins, GA. South Nashville finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. An error scored Brian Garcia and gave South Nashville the lead for good.

South Dakota - Canyon Lake LL rolled over Nebraska - Kearney LL 15-4 on Friday at Stokley Field after an eight-run rally in the fourth inning. SD-Canyon Lake LL scored in the fourth on a single by Cooper Voorhees, an RBI single by Daniel Vigoren, a two-run home run by Blake Weaver, and a three-run home run by Dylan Richey. The game was back-and-forth heading into the third, with five lead changes.

At the 68th Little League Baseball® World Series in Williamsport, Little League’s celebration of its 75th Anniversary will commence as Mike Mussina’s accomplishments on and off the baseball field will be recognized when he is enshrined in the World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum’s Hall of Excellence. The enshrinement ceremony is set to be held before the World Championship game, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24. Mr. Mussina will be the 48th person to be enshrined in the Little League Hall of Excellence.

With a Major League Baseball shortstop as a father and an uncle who also played and a managed in the big leagues, Roy Smalley III was born into baseball. Mr. Smalley used those lessons first learned from his father and uncle and as a Little Leaguer® at Westchester National Little League in Los Angeles, Calif., to become a professional athlete, a successful businessman, broadcaster, and advocate of youth baseball and softball through his work as the President of Pitch in for Baseball. To recognize those achievements, Mr. Smalley has been named the 2014 recipient of the William A. “Bill” Shea Distinguished Little League® Graduate Award.

For the family of Tony and Robin Rasmus, Little League® has been a binding thread of their lives. Their four sons (Colby, Cory, Cyle, and Case) have thrived on the baseball field, all four advancing through to the collegiate and/or professional level, but it is the respect for the life lessons learned between the lines and reinforced by Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus that has earned them the recognition as the 2014 George and Barbara Bush Little League Parents of the Year.

Southeast starter Brian Auerbach doesn't need much run-support when he is on the mound and he showed it on Wednesday at Field one against Puerto Rico. Seven strong innings by Auerbach hoisted Southeast to a 2-1 victory over Puerto Rico in seven innings.
75th 152San Diego, Calif., Little League® Volunteer, Ray Bernal, Honored with the 2014 Howard and Gail Paster Little League Urban Initiative Volunteer of the Year Award

For Ray Bernal, a lot has happened in the past five years. He became the president of San Diego American Little League; with the help of the San Diego Padres, he renovated the league’s baseball fields and added a softball field; and he nearly tripled the size of his league, adding Junior and Senior League Baseball divisions, as well as three levels of Little League Softball®. For these accomplishments he was selected as the recipient of the 2014 Howard and Gail Paster Little League® Urban Initiative Volunteer of the Year Award.

Becoming a volunteer in 1964, Wilson has served several roles in his 50 years of service. Whether he is coaching, serving on the league’s Board of Directors, or maintaining fields, Ed Wilson constantly strives to make Midland Northeast Little League an environment for kids to learn and grow. Mr. Wilson’s service and dedication make him the perfect recipient for the 2014 Little League Volunteer of the Year Award.

For his display of Little League’s core values of Character, Courage, and Loyalty, Cole has been selected as the recipient of the 2014 Little League Good Sport of the Year Award.

As Little League® celebrates its 75th Anniversary at the 2014 Little League Baseball® World Series, the league representing the Caribbean Region has won its way to compete in South Williamsport. In Freeport, Bahamas, Liga Infantil y Juvenil Miguel Luzunaris from Humacao, Puerto Rico, captured the banner as Caribbean Region Champions with the 14-3 win, Elrod Hendricks West Little League from St. Thomas, representing the U.S. Virgin Islands, on Friday, July 25. This will be back-to-back Little League Baseball World Series with a team from Puerto Rico representing the Caribbean Region.

At the Little League Baseball European Leadership Training Center in Kutno, Poland, South Moravia Little League from Brno, Czech Republic, captured the banner as Europe and Africa Region Champions with the 11-6 win, defeating Catalunya Little League from Catalunya, Spain, on Monday, July 21. This will be back-to-back Little League Baseball World Series appearances for South Moravia Little League, which is also sending a team to the 2014 Little League® Intermediate (50/70) Baseball World Series.
