Clinton Valley Little League in Michigan Receives Grant from Detroit Tigers Foundation, Family of Tigers’ Player Sean Casey

DETROIT - Sean Casey of the Detroit Tigers, and his wife, Mandi made a personal donation of $10,000 to the Clinton Valley Little League to support the renovation of a facility for the league’s Challenger Division in Clinton Township, Mich.

The donation matches a $10,000 grant to the local Little League program provided by The Detroit Tigers Foundation. In total, The Detroit Tigers Foundation made 11 grants to local youth baseball-related projects.

“The awarding of these grants is a milestone achievement for The Detroit Tigers Foundation,” Elaine Lewis, vice president of community and public affairs for the Tigers, said. “Enhancing the lives of young people in our community, and creating opportunities through baseball and softball, is one of our primary objectives. This presentation represents a major step forward.”

The Detroit Tigers Foundation was established in 2005 to enhance lives through the game of baseball. With its focus on youth, education and recreation, the foundation aids and develops initiatives that help promote the game of baseball. The foundation received more than 45 grant applications in 2006, and these 11 are the first to be awarded.

The Detroit Tigers Foundation accepts formal grant requests each year from Sept.1- Dec. 20. For more information about the grant application process, please visit www.detroittigersfoundation.com.
