World of Little League® Museum Announces Activities for June

Includes Special 'Catch' Event in Lamade Stadium

Summer is nearly here and activities are in full swing at the World of Little League® Museum and Official Store. Among them, in June, are an open house and a special Father’s Day event. The Museum also is participating in the Blue Star Museum program, a nationwide program that opens more than 2,000 museums at no cost to veterans and active military personnel with proper identification.

On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21, dads (and moms, too) who tour the Museum will be permitted to play “catch” on the outfield grass in Howard J. Lamade Stadium from noon to 3 p.m. It is the second time that Little League International has agreed to allow parents to play catch with their children on the field. To commemorate the event, a limited edition collector’s “slider ball” pin of Dugout and a person playing catch will be offered at a discount to attendees.

Parents are required to sign waivers and participants must have a ticket from visiting the Museum that Sunday. Participants should bring their own gloves. Baseball bats will not be allowed.

The day before Father’s Day, the Museum will host an Open House on Saturday, June 20. Admission will be free all day.

Behind-the-scenes tours of the Little League International Complex, including Lamade and Volunteer stadiums, will be held at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. It is suggested participants dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes.

Honoring our nation’s service men and women, the Blue Star Museums is a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums throughout the United States to offer free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including the National Guard and the Reserve from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Sept. 7. The World of Little League Museum, however, has opened its program and offers free admission for veterans every day, all year long.

General admission for the Museum is only $5. Children ages 5-12 are admitted for $2, and Seniors 62 and older are admitted for $3. Children 4 and younger are free, as well as any Little Leaguer wearing a uniform shirt that includes the Little League Shoulder Patch. The Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, please check the World of Little League Museum’s Facebook page for updated information about hours.
