For the fourth time in the 69-year history of the Little League Baseball® Seguro Social Little League will be representing the Mexico Region in South Williamsport, Pa., this summer. Seguro Social Little League, located in Mexicali, Baja California, defeated Conno Hill Little League on Friday, July 17, 13-6, winning its way to the 2015 Little League Baseball® World Series. Fourteen teams took part in the seven-day event held in Matamoros, Mexico.

Mexico has one of the most storied histories of any country in Little League® history. This will be the 29th time a team from Mexico has competed in the Little League Baseball World Series. Seguro Social Little League previously traveled to Williamsport in 2005, 2007, and 2011, where they have a 5 and 5 record, finishing as International Bracket runner-up in 2011. In 1957 and 1958, a team from Monterey, the capital city of Nuevo León, became the first league in the history of the Little League Baseball World Series to win back-to-back championships, and the first non-U.S. team to win a championship banner. Angel Macias, who pitched with both his left and right hands, threw a perfect game to win the 1957 Little League Baseball World Series. Mexico has received an automatic berth in the Little League Baseball World Series since the tournament expanded to 16 teams in 2001.

Seguro Social Little League finished the Mexico Region Tournament with a 7 and 1 record, and outscored opponents 86 to 28. Click here to learn more about the Mexico Region Tournament.

The Canada Region Championship is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16. Over the course of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the Little League Baseball World Series, concluding with the Little League Baseball World Series Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30.
