For the 29th time in the 69-year history of the Little League Baseball®, a Little League team from Chinese Taipei will represent the Asia-Pacific Region in South Williamsport, Pa., this summer. Tung Yuan Little League defeated East Seoul Little League from Seoul, South Korea, on Monday, July 20, 3-2, winning its way to the 2015 Little League Baseball® World Series. Ten teams took part in the seven-day event held at Guilin, China.

Chinese Taipei has the most Little League Baseball World Series Championships of any country outside of the United States, with 17, most recently winning in 1996. A team from Chinese Taipei last competed in Williamsport at the 2013 World Series. The 2014 Little League Baseball Asia-Pacific Region Championship was won by Seoul Little League from South Korea, who went on to win the Little League Baseball World Series Championship. Seoul Little League’s trip to Williamsport last year snapped a 5-year span of World Series appearances for teams from Chinese Taipei. This is the first time that a team from Tung Yuan Little League will compete in the Little League Baseball World Series.

Tung Yuan Little League defeated the team from ILLAM Central Little League from Makati City in the Philippines to advance to the Asia-Pacific Region Tournament Championship against East Seoul Little League that bested the Chinese Taipei team earlier in the tournament, 9-7. The Asia-Pacific Region Champion will face off against the Japan Region Champion in the first round of the Little League Baseball World Series on Friday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m., at Volunteer Stadium. Kitasuna Little League from Tokyo, Japan won the Japan Region Championship on Monday, July 20. For more information on the Japan Region Tournament, click here. Over the course of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the Little League Baseball World Series, concluding with the Little League Baseball World Series Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30.
