At the spring meeting of the Little League® International Board of Directors, Tony Richardson, New Jersey District 11 Administrator, was nominated to the Board. Mr. Richardson, of Neptune, N.J., will succeed Michael Serino, Pennsylvania District 17 Administrator, as the Eastern Region Representative. The announcement was made at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 7, 2014.

“We are extremely grateful for Michael’s years of service on the Board,” said Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman. “And we are excited to have Tony provide his insight and wisdom on the Board for the next four years. Both of these gentlemen have given countless hours of dedicated service to ensuring that millions of children around the world can have a wonderful Little League experience.”

Mr. Richardson, 68, has been a Little League volunteer for 30 years, serving as District Administrator for the past 18 years. The President and CEO of All Star Investigations, Mr. Richardson retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation after 30 years. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967. Mr. Richardson is the 2007 recipient of the Peter J. McGovern Distinguished District Administrator Award. The Little League New Jersey State Director, Mr. Richardson has been an active organizer of Little League Urban Initiative Jamborees in New Jersey. Also approved at the spring Board meeting was a new, four-year term for Field Representatives to the Board. Mr. Richardson’s term will begin at the November 2014 meeting of the Little League International Board of Directors.

“I am glad to have the opportunity to serve Little League on the International Board of Directors,” said Mr. Richardson. “The Little League experience is one that millions of children around the world get to enjoy, and I’m excited to help enhance that experience while on the Board. As an African-American growing up in the South in the 1950s and 1960s, I didn’t even know what a Board of Directors was, and now, having the opportunity to serve at the highest level of Little League is a tremendous honor.”

Mr. Richardson started his Little League volunteer career as his son’s baseball coach. In 1992, he coached his younger son, Andre, to the Senior League Baseball World Series in Florida. They finished as the runner-up. In his 30 years with Little League, he has served as an umpire, coach, manager, league president, Assistant District Administrator., and D.A.
