Little League Honors 18 Volunteers From Around the World at the 26th Little League® International Congress

Little League® International kicked off National Volunteer Week on April 6 with recognizing the dedication and achievement of eighteen volunteers from 10 U.S. states, 2 Canadian provinces and six international countries. District Administrator Little League Meritorious Service Award and the Assistant District Administrator Commendation Awards were presented at the Volunteer Recognition Lunch at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn.

“Little League volunteers are some of the most dedicated, passionate individuals in the world, dedicated to giving countless children a wonderful experience, on the field and off,” said Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman. “We are pleased to recognize the efforts of these individuals as a way to showcase all the hard work that Little League volunteers throughout the world put forth each year.”

The recipients of the 2014 District Administrator Little League Meritorious Service Award are: Danny Cavallo (Syracuse, N.Y.; New York District 8), Jim Dean (Ottawa, Ontario; Ontario District 2), Jolly Gomez (Manila, Philippines; Philippines), Jeremy Haley (Athens, Ga.; Georgia District 7), Mike Ray (Vancouver, Wash.; Washington District 4), Raul Salazar (Maracaibo, Venezuela; Venezuela District 5), Gijs Selderijk (Nieuwegein, the Netherlands; the Netherlands), Brent Shuff (Calhoun, La.; Louisiana District 5), Tim Ward (Rushville, Ill.; Illinois District 17).

The recipients of the 2014 Assistant District Administrator Commendation Award are: Wendy Berdahl (Edmonton, Alberta; Alberta District 2), Lowell Easterly (Afton, Tenn.; Tennessee District 4); Ghislaine Ethier (France), Tom Ferguson (Fairfield, Calif., California District 53), Steve Mita (Tokyo, Japan; Japan District 1), Felipe Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico; Puerto Rico District 6), Bill Rogers (Tallmadge, Ohio; Ohio District 3), Robert Rousseau (Worcester, Mass.; Massachusetts District 4), Elizabeth Slimak (Albuquerque, N.M.; New Mexico District 8).

“These volunteers are just some of the great examples of men and women who are leading our local Little League programs in communities throughout the world,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO. “We are grateful for their dedication, and we know that because of their dedication, boys and girls are able to have a wonderful Little League experience.”
