At the spring meeting of the Little League® International Board of Directors, Jolly Gomez, Philippines District 1 Administrator, was elected to the Board. Mr. Gomez, of Manila, Philippines, succeeds Stephen Guerrero, Guam Administrator, as the Asia-Pacific Region Representative. The announcement was made at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 7, 2014.

“We are extremely grateful for Stephen’s years of service on the Board,” said Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman. “And we are excited to have Jolly provide his insight and wisdom for the next four years. Both of these gentlemen have given countless hours of dedicated service to ensuring that millions of children around the world can have a wonderful Little League experience.”

Mr. Gomez, 54, has been a Little League volunteer for 22 years, serving as District Administrator for the past seven years. As Commissioner of the Philippines Sports Commission, he is not only in charge of the 60 local Little League programs in his district, but all youth sports in the country. In 2007, he received the Little League Assistant District Administrator Commendation Award. At this year’s International Congress, he was also the recipient of the District Administrator Little League Meritorious Service Award. Also approved at the spring Board meeting was a new, four-year term for Field Representatives to the Board. Mr. Gomez’s term will begin at the November 2014 meeting of the Little League International Board of Directors.

“It is a great honor to be elected to the Little League International Board of Directors,” said Mr. Gomez. “Little League is such an important organization in the development of the sport in the Philippines and the entire Asia-Pacific Region. I’m excited to be able to work to enhance the Little League experience within our region and around the world.”

During Mr. Gomez’s 22 years as a Little League volunteer, he has served as a coach, manager, league president, A.D.A., and D.A. He and his wife, Pechay, have five children and reside in Makati, Manila in the Philippines.
