Indiana District 11 is bringing home their second-in-a-row Senior League Softball World Series Championship Banner.
Nichole Kirkpatrick threw a shutout to lift the Central Region Champions to a 5-0 win over West at Bruce Layton Field in seven innings in Lower Sussex, Del.
Indiana's Kirkpatrick kept West Region Champions from Garden City Softball/Mullan Trail LL from Missoula, Mont., off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up six.
Macey Newbary was the game's losing pitcher. She went six innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
The Central Region Champs never trailed after scoring one run in the fourth inning.
Indiana built upon its lead with three runs in the fifth.
Indiana District 11 bested Lombardia Little League from Milano, Italy at the 2013 Senior League Softball World Series. This was the second year in a row that the tournament has been held in conjunction with the Big League Softball World Series in Lower Sussex, Del. The tournaments, which both wrapped up on Saturday, Aug. 9, are one of the premier softball tournaments in the world. Delaware District 1, the East Region Champions, won the 2014 Big League Softball World Series.
