At the spring meeting of the Little League® International Board of Directors, Bob Toigo, Washington District 9 Administrator, was elected to the Board. Mr. Toigo, of Sammamish Wash., succeeds Marty Hoy, California District 25 Administrator, as the Western Region Representative. The announcement was made at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 7, 2014.

“We are extremely grateful for Marty’s years of service on the Board,” said Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman. “And we are excited to have Bob provide his insight and wisdom on the Board for the next four years. Both of these gentlemen have given countless hours of dedicated service to ensuring that millions of children around the world can have a wonderful Little League experience.”

Mr. Toigo, 71, has been a Little League volunteer for 44 years, serving as District Administrator for the past seven years. Now retired, he was an employee of the Port of Seattle. Mr. Toigo served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Washington District 9 is the home of the Junior League Softball World Series, held in Kirkland since its inception in 1999. He has received the Western Region Assistant District Administrator of the Year award and also serves as the Washington State Little League Director and on the Northwest New League Development Committee. There are 14 local Little League programs in Mr. Toigo’s district. Also approved at the spring Board meeting was a new, four-year term for Field Representatives to the Board. Mr. Toigo’s term will begin at the November 2014 meeting of the Little League International Board of Directors.

“I am extremely honored to represent all of our players and volunteers of the Western Region on the Little League International Board of Directors,” said Mr. Toigo. “We have a proud Little League tradition in Washington, which is the home of the Junior League Softball World Series. I am excited to bring my experiences to help create a better Little League experience for all our players, parents and volunteers.”

Mr. Toigo’s hometown team of Sammamish, Eastlake Little League, represented the West Region in the 2013 Little League Baseball World Series. The Kirkland National/American Little League team was the runner-up of the 2013 Junior League Softball World Series. In his 44 years as a Little League volunteer, Mr. Toigo has served as a D.A., A.D.A., league president, manager and coach. Last year, he and his wife, Vicki, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He is the father of two adult sons and the grandfather of five.
