Little League® Urban Initiative Jamboree Comes to Marietta, Georgia
One of nine Little League Urban Initiative Jamborees being held throughout the United States this spring, participants in the Georgia State Jamboree will take part in a weekend of games and other special events at no cost to their local league. The Atlanta Braves’ Braves Around Town team and mascot, Chopper, will be at the Milford Little League on Saturday, May 25, to entertain players and fans with games and giveaways. Saturday promises to have a hometown, Southern, touch with a barbecue after all the games are played.
“We are thrilled that we can bring all these players together at Milford Little League,” said Linda North, Georgia District 4 Administrator and Member of the Little League International Board of Directors. “The Little League Urban Initiative Jamboree provides these children a venue where they can play in a World Series atmosphere. It’s an experience that every Little Leaguer® would like to have, and we’re happy that we can provide that opportunity to these children.”
Games at Georgia’s Little League Urban Initiative Jamboree begin at 6 p.m., Friday, May 24, and play resumes at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 25. At the end of the weekend, all the participants will leave with a lifetime of memories, and one team will win the championship banner. The championship game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 26.
