Subway Restaurants’ 2013 Buddy Badge Contest to Benefit Little League Challenger Division®
Sale of 2013 Buddy Badge pin to Support Challenger Division Teams Traveling to 2013 Little League Baseball® World Series
Subway restaurants, the world’s largest submarine sandwich chain and official sponsor of Little League Baseball and Softball, is once again supporting the Little League Challenger Division® through the 2014 Buddy Badge design program as part of its efforts to encourage children and their families to eat healthy and lead active lives.
The Subway Buddy Badge is a pin designed in support of the Little League Challenger Division, which provides the opportunity for children with mental and physical challenges to play and enjoy the benefits, of playing Little League.
Last year, the design for the 2013 badge was based on the artwork provided by Meg Novak of Grosse Pointe Park, MI. The pin design represents the concept of the “buddy system,” one of the building blocks of the Challenger Division. A Challenger Division “Buddy” is a person, either and adult or Little League-age player, who assists the Challenger player on the field during games.
The limited-edition 2013 Buddy Badge can be purchased for four dollars; with 50 percent from each purchase being donated to the two Challenger Division teams traveling to this summer’s Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Subway also has donated $2,500 to each Challenger team traveling to the LLWS this year to help offset travel expenses. Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with more than 2.4 million players and one million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries. The Little League International Board of Directors, a volunteer board, is responsible for the management of the property and affairs of Little League.
