Little League® Baseball and Softball will hold its Urban Initiative New York Metro Jamboree at the Bronxchester, Parkchester and Van Nest Little League Fields in Bronx, N.Y. on June 14-16.

The last of nine Urban Initiative Jamborees held throughout the United States this spring, participants in the New York Metro Jamboree from Little Leagues® in New Jersey and New York will take part in a weekend of games and other special events at no cost to their local league.

“One of our very first Little League Urban Initiative leagues was started in Harlem in 1999,” said Demiko Ervin, Little League Urban Initiative Program Director. “We are excited to cap off the Jamboree season so close to where the program began. As the Urban Initiative has grown, these Jamborees have become the highlights of the program. They are exciting events that provides Little Leaguers® the opportunity to play in a tournament atmosphere and come together with their peers from area leagues to compete, make new friends and create lasting memories.”

At the end of the weekend, one team will win the championship banner. Games begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 14 and resume on Saturday, June 15 at 9 a.m. The Jamboree Awards Presentation will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m. with special guest Tony the Tiger. Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes® is the Official Breakfast Food of Little League and a proud sponsor of the Little League Urban Initiative. The Championship Game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 16. Learn more about this year’s Urban Initiative Jamborees.
