Get the Benefits of Little League's Facebook Page
Over the past year, Little League International staffers have answered thousands of questions from parents, volunteers and fans on the Little League Baseball and Softball Facebook Fan Page. The page, one of several administered by Little League, now has nearly 50,000 followers from all 50 U.S. states and scores of other countries.
Besides the "conversations" facilitated by Little League International personnel, signing up to be a friend of Little League's Facebook page means you can receive up-to-the-minute updates on rule changes and interpretations, great feature stories on Little Leaguers and Little League volunteers, special offers from Little League sponsors, and much more.
For instance, during the Little League Baseball World Series this past August, Little League posted photos every day from various events on the "wall" of its Facebook page. That allowed tens of thousands of Little League fans to see near-real-time photos from Series events on their smart phones, tablets, and computers.
But it is the sharing of information, both ways, that has made the Little League Facebook site so useful.
"One of the greatest features of our Facebook page is the input we receive from experienced volunteers," Chris Downs, Little League International's Director of Publicity, said. "So often, before we even have a chance to reply to an inquiry, any one of hundreds of highly knowledgeable volunteers will chime in with an answer. The give-and-take we have seen on the Little League Facebook site has been terrific."
