On Aug.2, Image Entertainment plans to release on DVD and Blu-ray, The Perfect Game, a moving tale of “the little giants” who became the first international team to win the Little League Baseball World Series.

They were called “los pequeños gigantes” - the little giants.  In 1957, a team of baseball-loving children from Mexico achieved the impossible. Standing tall against hardships no child should face - poverty, intolerance – they crossed the border to achieve their dream of competing in the Little League Baseball World Series.

Cesar (Clifton Collins Jr., Star Trek) has returned to his native Mexico after his major league career is cut short. However, his career is reborn when a group of determined children recruit him as coach for their rag-tag baseball team.

Moises Arias (“Hannah Montana”), and Ryan Ochoa (“Pair of Kings”) co-star as these resolute underdogs with Jake T. Austin (“Wizards of Waverly Place”) as Angel Macias, their ambidextrous pitcher, and the only pitcher to throw a Perfect Game in the championship game of the LLWS.

Together they form the unlikeliest of teams with the unlikeliest of goals.

Cheech Marin (Spy Kids), Lou Gossett Jr. (Iron Eagle), Bruce McGill (Animal House), Emilie de Ravin (Lost) and David Koechner (Anchorman) also appear in this uplifting film directed by William Dear (Angels in the Outfield, Harry and the Hendersons).

Rated by the prestigious family-friendly Dove Foundation with five out of five “doves,” The Perfect Game is a heart-warming story in the tradition of Rudy and Hoosiers, taken from the book that Mr. Gossett Jr. himself has called “more than an instant sports classic – it is a heroic tale for the ages.”
