Best Way to See the Little League Baseball World Series – and How to Get There

Large crowds at the Little League Baseball World Series are normal. So, the best way to make the day a memorable one is to arrive early.

The first event is Opening Ceremonies on Thursday (August 16) at 11 a.m. at Little League Volunteer Stadium, followed by four games that day. The Series continues each day (with one scheduled day without games on Aug. 24) until the World Championship Game on Aug. 26.

As always, admission to the Little League Baseball World Series is free. Tickets are only required for some seats in the stadiums, with no ticket ever required to sit on the famed hills beyond the outfield fence at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.

Parking is free as well, but the parking lots do fill up quickly.

“We suggest anyone planning a trip to the World Series to arrive early,” Lance Van Auken, Little League International Vice President of Communications, said. “We also would encourage them to make use of the excellent public transportation system provided by River Valley Transit with the Little League Express Bus. That way, you can avoid the hassle of finding a parking space, and the bus drops you off closer to the stadiums.”

River Valley Transit (RVT) buses leave every 30 minutes from the Third Street Parking Garage in downtown Williamsport, across from the Trade & Transit Center. Parking in the garage is free (with validation from the bus driver), and the cost for unlimited rides during the entire Series is just $5. For $10, it’s unlimited rides on the Little League Express Bus, plus unlimited use of all other RVT routes throughout the World Series.

Early arrival also is important. While security screening at the Series is very efficient, some delays can be expected.

For some games, fans will be issued a ticket upon entering the stadium in order to prevent over-crowding in the seating areas. Tickets for stadium seating at the World Championship game at Lamade Stadium have already been distributed, but plenty of general seating area always will be available on the hills.
