Senior League Baseball World Series Receives Recognition from Bangor, Maine, Chamber of Commerce
The Senior League Baseball World Series, for children ages 14-16, has been played in Bangor, Maine, since 2002. On January 19, 2011, at the Bangor Chamber of Commerce 100th Anniversary Awards Celebration, World Series Tournament Director Mike Brooker will accept the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award.
“Bangor has been a fine and worthy host for the Senior League Baseball World Series,” Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball and Softball, said. “For several years, the Bangor region has welcomed Little League’s best 14-16-year-old baseball players to a World Series Tournament that has been coordinated by a motivated group of volunteers headed by Mike Brooker.
“To know the Bangor Chamber of Commerce also recognizes the success of this event is a tribute to Mr. Brooker, his staff and the people of Bangor,” Mr. Keener said. “Little International offers its congratulations, and thanks to the Bangor Chamber of Commerce for appreciating the impact this event has on its community.”
This award recognition is annually bestowed on a group or organization that has made the Bangor Region’s quality of life better, either by helping others directly or by enhancing community or regional assets that add to that quality of life.
