Each year, Little League International encourages its districts and leagues around the world to nominate individuals deserving of recognition for their commitment to, and impact on, the Little League program. Participation in the Awards Program helps demonstrate the benefits and values of volunteerism, family and sportsmanship. The Little League Awards program recipients are recognized annually at the Little League Baseball World Series in South Williamsport, Pa.

Traveling to Williamsport as honored guest of Little League International, the 2010 Little League Baseball Awards Program recipients were presented with their awards during the annual breakfast held at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport, and later were recognized during World Series pre-game ceremonies.

The 2010 Little League Awards Program, supported by Chartis Insurance, honored: Tyler Prewitt (Mom of the Year); Mike Messick (Volunteer of the Year); Cody McCoy (Good Sport of the Year); Margie Sabathia-Lanier (George and Barbara Bush Parent of the Year); and Mark Muench (Little League Challenger Award).

Also receiving recognition during the 64th Little League Baseball World Series was Bill Haley, who was presented the 2010 Howard and Gail Paster Little League Urban Initiative Volunteer of the Year Award. Mr. Haley accepted his honor during the Little League Awards Breakfast.

The 2010 Bill Shea Distinguished Little League Graduate of the Year recipient was former Major League pitcher Ron Darling. This year's enshrinee in the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum Hall of Excellence was former Little Leaguer, NASCAR driver and team owner, Kyle Petty.

Receiving the Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award, was WRAK radio, the flagship station for all English-speaking radio coverage of the Little League Baseball World Series.
