John Christensen, who served as California District 52 Administrator for more than 10 years and a Little League umpire for nearly 40 years, passed away on Saturday. He was 72.

Mr. Christensen of Belmont, Calif., was an accountant and insurance broker.

A native of Elkhorn, Iowa, Mr. Christensen umpired his first Little League games in 1973, and he has the distinction of umpiring in all four of Little League Baseball's World Series.

Serving as Assistant District Administrator for California's 52nd District until his election as District Administrator in 2001, Mr. Christensen was responsible for 16 Little Leagues. He also previously served as a Little League coach and a league president.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30, at the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 600 West 42nd Avenue, in San Mateo, Calif.

Survived by two children, Todd and Andrea, Mr. Christensen’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to California District 52.
