Little League Offers Multiple Weeks of Baseball Camps at Three Sites
For any player who wants to improve their fundamentals while also developing new skills and sharing experiences with new friends, the Little League Baseball Camps provide that opportunity. Five weeks of camps are offered at two locations, Hillsgrove, Pa. and Bristol, Conn., and campers have six week-long camps available in South Williamsport, Pa.
South Williamsport is the only location that offers a day camp, which is scheduled for June 28-July 2. Following that session, there will be five consecutive weeks of six-day, overnight camps beginning on July 4. Those attending a camp in South Williamsport will train and play on the same fields used by the 16 Little League teams who earn a trip to the Little League Baseball World Series each August. They will also stay in the same facilities used by the World Series teams. These camps are open to all children who are between ages 10 and 14 as of April 30, 2010. There will be an open house for anyone interested in finding out more about the camp and touring the facilities on Sunday, May 16 between noon and 3 p.m.
The camps in Bristol, which are held at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center, Little League’s Eastern Region Headquarters, are all overnight beginning with the first six-day session on June 27. Each session is open to any child between the ages of 10 and 12 as of April 30, 2010. Campers will train and stay at the same facilities used for the Little League Baseball East Region Tournament, including Breen Field. An open house, offering a first-hand look at the facilities and information on any aspect of the camp, will be held on Saturday, April 17 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The camp location in Hillsgrove offers a unique experience. The Green Acres Baseball Camp provides a rural setting surrounded by scenic mountains adding to the camp experience. Children are eligible to attend this camp if they are between the ages of 9 and 12, as of April 30, 2010, with the first six-day session beginning on July 11. An open house at the Green Acres location will be held on Sunday, May 16 from noon to 3 p.m.
All aspects of the game, including hitting, pitching, fielding and base running, will be covered by the camp instructors and counselors. A typical day, for the overnight camps, begins at 7 a.m., and includes a full day of baseball and other activities, concluding at 10 p.m. The camp provides the latest training aids, pitching machines, and instructional techniques. All equipment is approved by Little League Baseball to provide maximum safety, permitting the finest instruction. Appealing, well-balanced meals are prepared by trained cafeteria personnel and a fully-stocked canteen offers necessities and souvenir items.
The cost for the overnight camps is $395 with discounts available for attendance at multiple sessions and siblings. A non-refundable deposit of $100 per session must accompany the application. The day camp in South Williamsport costs $95. Spots in the camps at all three locations are filled on a first-come, first-served basis until full.
