Park View Little League (PVLL) from Chula Vista, Calif., the 2009 Little League Baseball World Series Champion, was seen on New Year’s Day 2010 in Pasadena, Calif., riding on the Subway Restaurants float in the 121st Tournament of Roses Parade.

SUBWAY Restaurants, a Little League Baseball and Softball corporate partner, created a sports-themed float for this year’s Rose Parade that was entitled “Where Winners Eat.” The 55-foot float showcased and saluted some of America’s beloved sports figures.

Riding on the float were professional and amateur athletes including the PVLL team from near San Diego, winners of the 63rd Little League Baseball World Series; Blake Griffin of the National Basketball Association’s Los Angeles Clippers, nine-time Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star and University of Southern California (USC) Hall of Famer Fred Lynn; and Lauren Cheney, Olympic Soccer Gold Medalist, who is a University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) student athlete.

Park View Little League defeated Kuei-Shan Little League from Chinese Taipei, the Asia-Pacific Region Champions, 6-3, on Aug. 30, in South Williamsport, Pa., to win the World Series title.

Elaborate floral-graphs depicting athletes from the world of sports, including Olympic Swimming Gold Medalist Michael Phelps; Ryan Howard, first baseman for MLB’s National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies; and NASCAR driver Carl Edwards rose from the lush gardens on the float.

The black and white floral-graphs were framed in more than 20,000 roses is seven brilliant varieties. They flanked the symbol of excellence; a 10-foot tall rotating trophy cup. An overlay of bright stars and a profusion of spiral floral beams completed the scene.
