Allstate and Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Rice Take Part in the Little League World Series’ Opening Ceremonies
As part of the 2009 Little League Baseball World Series’ (LLBWS) opening ceremonies in South Williamsport, Allstate and Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Rice made a donation to the Little League Urban Initiative.
Allstate donated $300 in support of the Little League Urban Initiative for each of the 16 teams competing in the LLBWS. In total, Allstate donated $4,800 to benefit the Urban Initiative.
The check was presented by Allstate’s Vice President of Regional and Direct Marketing, Tom Evans, and Mr. Rice. The check was received by Demiko Ervin, Director of the Little League Urban Initiative and Steve Keener, President and CEO of Little League. The program provides assistance packages for eligible leagues that aid the local volunteer group with equipment acquisition, capital improvement cash grants, field development and renovation, access to Little League Baseball and Softball Education and Training programs, advocacy and networking.
Allstate’s participation in the 2009 Little League Baseball World Series was part of a three-year sponsorship and partnership agreement with Little League International. In addition to the donation to the Urban Initiative, Allstate had an on-site presence at the 2009 series with a booth manned by local Allstate agents.
