The changes were made after many district administrators and local Little League volunteers had requested the pitching rules become more consistent.

(Dec. 14, 2009) – Derek Jeter, Captain of the World Series Champion New York Yankees, was recently selected as the 2009 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. Mr. Jeter, a Little League graduate whose parents were selected as the 2000 Little League Parents of the Year, is the ninth Major League Baseball player to receive this honor since SI created the award in 1954. Other Little League graduates also earning this special recogition include Tom Seaver, Carl Yastrzemski, Cal Ripken, Jr., and Orel Hershiser.

- New Jersey District 16 Administrator Dick Feldman Passes Away after Nearly 50 years as a Little League VolunteerSOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Dec. 16, 2009) - Richard “Dick” Feldman, who served as New Jersey’s District 16 Administrator for 48 years, passed away on Monday. He was 85.

(Dec. 1, 2009) – Anyone who would like to brighten the holiday for a local child can do so by bringing a new, unwrapped toy with a value of $10 or more to the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum in South Williamsport, Pa. This is the fourth year the museum and the local Toys for Tots program have teamed up to help make the holiday better for many area families.

Lopez, Jr., former Texas District 24 Administrator. Mr. Lopez, 78, of Brownsville, Texas, served as a District Administrator in the U.S. Southwest Region for more than 17 years, having begun his tenure in 1978.
- Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Host Fourth Annual Little League Challenger Division ClassicANAHEIM, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2009) – More than 600 Little League Challenger Division participants gathered at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, to participate in the Fourth Annual Bank of America Orange County Little League Challenger Division Classic.

- Stan Brown, Long-Time District Administrator, Former Little League International Advisory Board Member, Passes AwaySOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., (Nov. 5, 2009) - Little League International mourns the passing of Stanley F. Brown, Massachusetts District 15 Administrator, and a former member of the Little International Advisory Board. Mr. Brown, 81, of Danvers, Mass., served as a District Administrator in the U.S. Eastern Region for 48 years, having begun his tenure in 1964. He started his service to Little League as a founding member of the Danvers Little League and at the time of his death was the second-longest tenured District Administrator in the Little League program.
