Washington District 8 Administrator Gary Newsome Passes Away

Gary Newsome, Washington District 8 Administrator, passed away on March 19. He was 69.

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mr. Newsome served as a volunteer District Administrator for 20 years.

Mr. Newsome was a professional in the construction industry. He relocated from California to Monroe, Wash.

In Monroe, he began volunteering in the Little League Baseball and Softball program. As District Administrator he oversaw 14 local Little Leagues, and focused his efforts on broadening the opportunities for physically and mentally disabled children through the Little League Challenger Division.

During his 40 years of volunteer service to the Little League program, Mr. Newsome also served 15 years as an Assistant District Administrator, one season as a league president, three years as a team manager and one as a coach.

Mr. Newsome considered the many friends that he met through Little League and knowing that he helped make a positive impact on our youth, as his greatest personal rewards.

Mr. Newsome is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly; daughter Tammy Neuman and son, Scott Newsome; grandchildren Kara, Dakota, Jennifer, Tristan and Tyler; great grandson, Jacob; brothers Mike, Dennis and Robert Newsome, and sisters Sheila and Debbie.
