Little League International Encourages Local Leagues to Make the ‘I Won’t Cheat’ Commitment
Little League International has partnered with former Major Leaguer and two-time National League Most Valuable Player, Dale Murphy, and his “I Won’t Cheat” Foundation to provide local leagues an additional avenue to positively influence Little Leaguers.
The “I Won’t Cheat” program provides local leagues another option for teaching children the timeless values of integrity, accountability, respect, commitment and healthy living. These values parallel Little League’s ideals of character, courage and commitment, and echo the words spoken every time the Little League pledge is recited.
“To leave the game better than we found it,” is the mission of the “I Won’t Cheat” program. Little League is providing the materials for local leagues or coaches to present the “I Won’t Cheat” program in a simple and efficient manner.
The tools to implement the program can be found, at: www.LittleLeague.org/managersandcoaches/iwontcheat. Additional information pertaining to the “I Won’t Cheat” Foundation can be found, at: www.iwontcheat.com.
The optimum situation would be for leagues to incorporate the “I Won’t Cheat” program into their opening ceremonies. However, coaches could arrange to have their respective teams take the “I Won’t Cheat” pledge.
A special “I Won’t Cheat” uniform patch can be ordered from Little League Equipment and Supply catalog, or online, at: www.LittleLeagueStore.net. The patch fits on the left sleeve over the official Little League patch.
