How You Can Help in This Time of Need

Many of you have contacted Little League and asked, "What can we do to assist the children and communities affected by the recent storms?" While there are still many humanitarian and other types of assistance pouring into these areas, one way you can assist is to reach out to communities in that region that are part of the Little League family.

Since 2005, Little League Baseball and Softball has partnered with a non profit youth baseball and softball charity called Pitch In For Baseball® (www.pitchinforbaseball.org) to coordinate our response to members of the Little League family needing assistance. 

Pitch In For Baseball (PIFB) is the central organization for the collection and redistribution of new and gently used youth baseball and softball equipment. In the last three years PIFB has provided much-needed donations of equipment and uniforms to programs and communities all around the U.S. and the world that have faced unforeseen and sometimes tragic circumstances. 

How you can help

You and your league can help in one of two ways. First, you can make a donation of uniforms and/or equipment. Pitch In For Baseball is collecting new or gently used youth baseball and softball gloves, catcher’s mitts, catcher’s gear, batting helmets, base sets, batting tees, uniform sets, rubber cleats and bats. New baseballs also are needed. A "gently used" item is defined by PIFB as one that does not need repair in order to be used. It is an item you would feel comfortable giving to a family member, friend or neighbor as a hand me down. You will be responsible for the cost of shipping donated equipment to Pitch In For Baseball.

However, the fastest way to make an impact in this situation is to make a monetary donation. Prior donations of equipment are already on hand at the Pitch In For Baseball warehouse. Financial contributions will help offset the costs of warehousing and shipping these items to recipient communities/leagues. It costs approximately $1,000 to sponsor a shipment of equipment and uniforms to a community in need, however donations of any size are greatly appreciated. Contributions are fully tax deductible and can made be via credit card directly through the PIFB website at www.active.com/donate/pifb.

If you are making monetary contributions by check, please make it out to "Pitch In For Baseball." Make sure to include your name and address with any contribution so that PIFB can give you/your league proper recognition and any receipts needed for tax purposes.
