LLSB: South Carolina’s Simpsonville Little League Captures Little League Softball World Series Championship

If there was one word that described the 2008 Little League Softball World Series it would be perfect. Simpsonville (S.C.) Little League posted six consecutive victories to win the 2008 Little League Softball World Series championship at Alpenrose Dairy Farm in Portland, Ore.

Simpsonville Little League defeated Robbinsville (N.J.) Little 9-5 in the championship game.

Nine out of the 10 teams played one-run games, with Midway Little League, the Southwest Region champions from Waco, Texas, playing three one-run contests.

Representing the South Region, Simpsonville Little League set the tone for its World Series-winning performance by ending every practice by doing push ups and chanting “World Series, Portland, Oregon.”

Simpsonville Little League defeated Latin America Region champion, ASOFEM Little League from Maunabo, Puerto Rico, 7-6 in the semifinal game. Robbinsville Little League reached the final game by shutting out Sterling (Ill.) Little League, 1-0.

The world championship was the first for Simpsonville Little League.
