2007 Little League Photo Contest Award Winners Chosen

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (July 23, 2007) – Karly Gallart, a Little League volunteer from Palm City, Fla., snapped a shot of a Tee Ball Division player charging a ground ball while playing first base in the Martin County (Fla.) North Little League. Mrs. Gallart’s photo has been voted the winner of the 2007 Little League Photo Contest.

The top three photos can be viewed here: http://www.littleleague.org/media/photocontest2007.asp

The second-place photo was taken by James Kelly, safety officer for Cape Coral (Fla.) Little League Softball. The subject is his daughter, Katelyn, pitching in a Minor League game.

Third place went to Traci Wells, who captured her son, Austin Wells enjoying pre-game warm-ups before a Major Division game at Chandler (Ariz.) Little League.

Little League volunteers from across the United States send in entries that are evaluated at Little League International and three winners are selected. This is the 10th year the contest has been conducted.

The three winning photographs, selected from more than 50 entries, will be on display at the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, with the top photographs from the past nine contests.

Voting is conducted by part- and full-time employees at Little League International in Williamsport.

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with nearly 2.7 million players and 1 million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries.
