In preparation for the impending retirement of
Senior Vice President Joe Losch, Patrick Wilson, vice president of
operations for Little League International, has re-distributed a
portion of Mr. Losch’s duties to various members of the operations
department.
“In advance of Joe’s retirement, I felt it was necessary to shuffle
some tasks within the department,” Mr. Wilson said. “The Little League
International operations department is focused on making the Little
League experience special and rewarding for everyone. Nick and Dan
believe in the values of our program, and their efforts on behalf of
the children playing Little League and the volunteers who support
them, gives me confidence that these moves will help to improve the
quality of service and attention we, as an organization, can provide.”
As Senior Director of Operations and Education, Mr. Caringi, who
joined the Little League International staff in 1998 following two
years as assistant director at Little League’s Eastern Region
headquarters in Bristol, Conn., will be more involved with
coordinating regional operations in the United States and abroad,
while taking on a greater role with the operation of the annual Little
League International tournament.
Since coming to Little League International as league development
director in 2004, Mr. Velte, a former Southwestern Region assistant
director, has made great strides in chartering leagues throughout the
United States, and in countries where Little League has not had a
significant presence. To that end, Mr. Velte, whose new title is
director of league development and chartering, will now be responsible
for the affiliation of new leagues, as well as the overall affiliation
of existing leagues.
“Nick and Dan have done an outstanding job in their varied roles,” Mr.
Wilson said. “I have no doubt that their continued diligent service to
the Little League program will better the productivity and
responsiveness of the operations department. As always, I encourage
local leagues to utilize the resources available through the regional
offices, but don’t hesitate to call on Nick or Dan for assistance and
advice on issues regarding your leagues or district.”
Mr. Caringi and Mr. Velte are members of the Little League
International charter committee, and will serve under Mr. Wilson, the
International Tournament director, during the tournament season. Mr.
Caringi has the title of deputy tournament director, and Mr. Velte is
an assistant tournament director along with David James, the director
of the Little League Urban Initiative and Challenger Division.
