WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Aug. 1, 2007) – Adam Thompson of South Williamsport, Pa., has assumed the duties of assistant director and curator of the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, it was announced today by Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little Baseball and Softball.

As assistant director, Mr. Thompson is responsible for assisting the director in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the museum, which has about 30,000 visitors each year. Specifically, he will lead a staff of part-time employees, and will assist in the maintenance of artifacts and rotation of exhibits, help to coordinate special events (guest speakers, receptions, news conferences, etc.), the museum gift shop, museum business office, and museum educational programs.

“Adam appreciates the significance of preserving Little League’s legacy for the people of the greater Williamsport area, and the thousands who visit our community each year,” Mr. Keener said. “With Adam assuming a staff position, his experience and attention to the role the museum plays in chronicling the history of the Little League program will help maintain the museum as unique repository for information, and fun-filled destination for visitors. We congratulate him on this appointment.”

Mr. Thompson joined the museum staff on a part-time basis in 1999. He assumed a full-time position in 2003.

A native of South Williamsport and graduate of South Williamsport High School (1997), Mr. Thompson attained a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from Lock Haven (Pa.) University (2001).
