2000 Little League World Series is Scheduled for August 20-26

The 2000 Little League World Series is Scheduled for August 20-26

There is never any charge for admission at the Little League Baseball World Series. Tickets are only needed for certain sections of the stadium. Tickets are never required for seating on the hillside terraces beyond the outfield fence. (Note: Tickets for those areas of the stadium where tickets are required are no longer available for the 2000 Series.)

Howard J. Lamade Stadium, where the Little League World Series has been played every year since 1959, seats approximately 10,000. The hillside terraces just beyond the outfield fence, which offer excellent viewing, can accommodate up to 30,000 more fans.

It is suggested that if you plan to sit in the Stadium, you arrive early. If you plan to watch the games from the terraced hills, you may want to bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs.

Souvenir tickets for the terraces are available at any time by writing to Pat Wilson at Little League Headquarters (PO Box 3485, Williamsport, PA 17701). Include your request in a stamped, self-addressed envelope. (Remember, no ticket is required for certain sections of the stadium.)

We also have a special group package available, for groups that include 15 or more, for the morning and afternoon games on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 21 and 22. Briefly, the package includes admission to the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, lunch at the game, an Official Little League World Series Program and a copy of the Little League Magazine (presented by Major League Baseball).

Groups that reserve space early will receive recognition during the game, and special stadium seating. More information on those group packages can be obtained by calling (570) 326-1921 -- ask for Melissa Singer.

Nearby hotel space, as you may expect, becomes more limited at the Series approaches. For information on accommodations, local attractions, restaurants, etc., please call the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce at (570) 326-1971.

If you are arriving by car, simply take U.S. Route 15 into South Williamsport, and follow the signs to the Little League Museum and/or Stadium Parking, which is located on the International Headquarters complex. Howard J. Lamade Stadium is also located here.

Parking is free. A wide variety of food and refreshments is available at the stadium, and Little League World Series Souvenirs are also available. Pin Trading is encouraged in special areas reserved for this purpose.

There is no smoking or tobacco use of any kind permitted in the stadium, as an example to be set for the young participants and fans. Alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the complex for the same reason. Coolers are permitted on the hillside areas, but for security reasons, all containers are subject to inspection in all areas. Distribution of literature or any other item without written permission from Little League Baseball, Incorporated, is prohibited.

There will be other events during the week of the Little League World Series. For information on those events, please contact the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce at (570) 326-1971. The schedule of games is posted at the Official Internet Website of Little League Baseball at www.littleleague.org.

We hope you and yours have a great time at the Series!
