Strengthening A Long-Time Relationship
DERBY, N.Y. (August 14, 2000) - The announcement of New Era Cap Company, Inc., the nation’s leading manufacturer and marketer of baseball style caps, as the official cap of Little League Baseball, Inc. strengthens a long-time relationship between the two organizations.
"Our relationship with Little League has been in place for a number of years, but our new agreement takes the relationship and commitment to another level," said Marc Scales, product manager for New Era Cap. "Our relationship provides New Era the opportunity to become more involved with the youth of America and our national pastime."
New Era Cap, as an official sponsor for the Little League World Series, will supply the league with its unique 59Fifty cap. The 59Fifty is the only cap worn on the field of play by every major league player. Now, every player in the Little League World Series will sport the 59Fifty low-profile version cap made of 100 percent worsted wool and extra stitching for over-all durability. Also, the 59Fifty will have the Little League World Series logo on the front and the Little League licensing mark on the rear of every cap.
"Each year, we look for ways to add to the enjoyment and experience of boys and girls playing Little League Baseball and Softball," says Jud Rogers, Director of Marketing and Public Relations. "Our corporate partnership with New Era makes possible the opportunity for players in leagues around the world to wear the caps their sports heroes are wearing."
"For example," Rogers continued, "this year, for the first time, Little League Baseball World Series participants will wear the fitted 59Fifty caps on the field. It's a great cap and one which will uniquely add to the players' experience."
New Era is a privately held corporation headquartered in Derby, NY, employing more than 1,500 people in New York and Alabama. The company is the exclusive manufacturer and marketer of the official uniform caps worn by every Major and Minor League Baseball player. New Era also manufactures and markets caps under license of the NBA, NFL, NHL and most major colleges. Additionally, over 8 million youth league, high schools and college baseball players wear New Era caps as part of their uniform and more than 200 PGA professionals wear New Era caps during weekly tournament play.
