Little League Baseball International Congress Agenda Announced Live Via Internet For First Time
On Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at
the Little League Baseball International Headquarters building in Williamsport,
Little League announced the agenda for the 2001 International Congress live on
the Internet. It was the first time Little League has conducted a live web cast
for any event other than the Little League Baseball World Series.
Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball, was on hand to welcome those logged in. Presenting the agenda was Joseph W. Losch, Vice President of Operations and Corporate Secretary for Little League Baseball.
The host was Ken
Sawyer, a Williamsport-area radio personality since 1970 and radio voice of the
Little League Baseball World Series for three decades. Mr. Sawyer can be heard
on radio stations WRAK-AM, WRKK-AM, WMYL-FM and WKSB-FM, each week.
The International Congress is held once every three years. The agenda is developed in the years leading up to the Congress, at which delegates (volunteer District Administrators or their appointed surrogates) vote on the agenda items. This year, there are 19 items on the agenda, each of which will be addressed at the Congress, April 20-23, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Each item, if ratified by two-thirds of the delegates in attendance and approved by the International Board of Directors or the International Tournament Committee, becomes a change in the rule or regulations of Little League for a specific division or divisions.
More than 100 computers in 35 U.S. states, Canada, Argentina and Brazil were logged on to the web cast, which was limited to about 660 district administrators worldwide. Those who logged on were provided with a synopsis of each agenda item.
District Administrators and District Information Officers who were not able to log in can download a replay of the event at any time by accessing myteam.com. Local Little League presidents and League Information Officers will be able to access the event starting on Tuesday, January16, at myteam.com.
