Little League Photo Contest Winners Announced for 2002

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Judges have chosen the top three photographs in the fifth annual Little League Photo Contest.

Little League volunteers from around the nation entered. The three winning photographs are on display at the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, and will be printed in the Little Leaguer newsletter this fall, mailed to all Little Leagues.

Voting is conducted by part- and full-time employees at Little League Baseball International Headquarters in Williamsport. To view the winning photos, click here.

First place went to Suzanne Barton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., whose photo of a Holiday Park Little League team celebrating a victory garnered the most votes. Ms. Barton works in the league’s concession stand, and is a safety consultant.

Second place went to Carole Lynne Heinen, a team mom in the Branham Hill Little League of San Jose, Calif. Ms. Heinen’s photo depicts first baseman Garrett Heinen reaching up to grab a throw for a force-out.

Third place belongs to Jeanne Roby, a general volunteer in the Enon Little League of Dayton, Ohio. Ms. Roby’s photo depicts Chris Roby sliding into home past the tag by catcher Shane Natalie.

Little League Baseball is the largest organized youth sports program in the world, with nearly 3 million participants in all 50 states and 104 other countries.
