Little League Photo Contest Award Winners Chosen

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Aug. 13, 2004) – For the second straight year, Craig Dahlberg of San Diego, Calif., has been voted the winner of the Little League Photo Contest.

Mr. Dahlberg is publications director for Mira Mesa West Little League of San Diego. His winning entry was a photo of Mira Mesa West Little Leaguer Devin Dahlberg catching a potential home run ball near the outfield fence.

The second-place photo was taken by Patricia J. Halloran, coach of a Challenger Division team from the Terre Haute South Little League in Terre Haute, Ind. The subject was Mrs. Halloran’s daughter, Bailey fielding a ball.

Third place went to Anne Ogden, who captured Waterford (Conn.) North Little League umpire Joe Baker consoling Justine Podurgiel, who was upset after she had been moved from pitcher to shortstop.

Little League volunteers from across the United States send in entries that are evaluated at Little League International and three winners are selected. This was the seventh year the contest has been conducted.

The three winning photographs will be on display at the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, with the three winning photographs from the past six contests.

Voting is conducted by part- and full-time employees at Little League International in Williamsport. Each of the winning photos can be viewed on the Internet at Little League’s website: www.littleleague.org.

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with nearly 2.7 million players and 1 million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries.
