Andy Konyar Little League International Umpire Consultant

(Updated December 2004)

Andy Konyar of Lewisburg, Pa., has been a Little League volunteer umpire for 30 years.

After 20 years in the U.S. Navy, Andy came to work at Little League International in 1987 as the Assistant Director of the Eastern Region. In 1990, he was named umpire consultant following the retirement of longtime Little League Umpire Consultant Frank Rizzo.

Andy is responsible for overseeing the training of thousands of volunteer umpires each year through clinics, seminars, and the Little League Umpire Registry.
(More information on the Umpire Registry can be found here: http://www.littleleague.org/umpires/index.asp). He also oversees the selection of umpires for the various World Series tournaments in Little League Baseball and Softball, and answers thousands of questions about Little League rules and regulations each year.

Andy has umpired in two World Series, both in 1993: The Little League Baseball World Series, and the Big League Baseball World Series.

Andy grew up in Trevorton, Pa., where he played youth baseball and high school baseball. He and his wife, Bev, have a son (Chris, 31) a daughter (Jill, 37), and four grandchildren.
