Cingular Wireless Encourages Players to Make The Call To Home at 2005 Little League Baseball World Series

ESPN Broadcaster Harold Reynolds to Sign Autographs at Cingular Calling Station
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (August 17, 2005) – Cingular Wireless is encouraging players at the 59th Little League World Series (LLWS) in Williamsport, Pa., to make a call -- a phone call, that is. As part of its on-site presence at the 10-day tournament, Cingular, an Official Sponsor of the Little League World Series, is setting up a “Home Plate” calling station to allow players and fans the chance to use its wireless phones and ALLOVER(sm) network to reach out to family and friends. Cingular will operate the calling station in the Sponsor Village near Lamade Stadium between Friday, August 19, and Tuesday, August 23.

A long line of fans queues up to get an autograph from ESPN Broadcaster and former Major League Baseball player Harold Reynolds.

In addition to the “Home Plate” calling station, Cingular will provide players and fans with an exclusive opportunity to meet popular ESPN broadcaster and former Major League Baseball player Harold Reynolds. Reynolds, who is serving as an analyst for LLWS games televised on ESPN and ABC Sports for the seventh consecutive year, will sign autographs for fans at the Sponsor Village near Lamade Stadium between noon and 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22.

“The Little League World Series is a once in a lifetime event for these players and their families,” said Dave Garver, Executive Director of High Growth Segments and Sponsorships at Cingular Wireless. “The ‘Home Plate’ calling station is an excellent way for us to allow these kids an opportunity to stay in touch with family and friends who can’t make the trip to Williamsport with them. After each game we hope players and fans of all16 teams will come by and use our phones to make a call home and talk about their experience at the Little League World Series.”

Teams from eight states and eight countries will compete in the LLWS, which begins play on Friday, August 19. Thanks to Cingular’s ALLOVER(sm) network -- the largest mobile-to-mobile community of any national wireless carrier -- calls can be placed to each of the 16 teams’ home states and countries for free. Cingular will feature a Live Bar station with the latest GoPhone® wireless product offerings, including the Motorola V220 camera phone. With no annual contract, credit check or deposit required and the option to pre-pay, GoPhone® gives customers complete control over their wireless plan while still offering the latest products and services that have helped make Cingular the largest wireless carrier in the country.
