WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Jan. 5, 2005) – Ace Hardware, the official hardware sponsor of Little League Baseball and Softball, has selected five winners of the Ace Hardware/Little League “Fields for the Future” contest.

In its continued effort to help the communities that Ace retailers serve, one field in each off Little League Baseball and Softball’s five regions in the continental United States, have been selected as grand prize winners.

Recipients of the $5,000 prize are: Pine Castle Little League (Orlando, Fla.; South Region), the Challenger Division of Appleton Einstein Little League (Appleton, Wis. Central Region), Rocky Hill Little League (Rocky Hill, Conn.; East Region), Rio Salado Little League (Tempe, Ariz.; West Region), and Pine Bluff American/Eastern Little League (Pine Bluff, Ark.; Southwest Region).

Each league will receive $2,500 worth of Ace products, and one day’s labor to repair, renovate and/or beautify a Little League field. Ace will also provide $2,500 in Ace Gift cards to each league.

Lou Manfredini, Ace Hardware’s “Helpful Hardware man”, will oversee each project. The work will be done by “Lou’s Crew” consisting of local volunteers and employees from the local Ace retailer.

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with nearly 2.7 million players and 1 million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries.
