Little League Mourns Passing of Ron Tellefsen

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (March 7, 2005) – Little League International mourns the passing of Ron Tellefsen, president and chief executive officer of Babe Ruth League, Inc. Mr. Tellefsen passed away on Saturday after an extended illness.

“I’ve known Ron for many years, and always found him to be professional and very much dedicated to the youth of the Babe Ruth organization,” Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League Baseball and Softball, said. “I know he will be missed, and our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Mr. Tellefsen began his affiliation with the Babe Ruth program in 1956 as a manager for the Clarkstown, N.Y., Babe Ruth League. In 1969, he began his professional career with Babe Ruth League, Inc., as development director, administering the national 16-18 year olds program. Promoted to field commissioner in 1971, he assumed responsibility for the entire field operation which at that time was the 13-15 and 16-18 year old divisions of Babe Ruth Baseball. In 1973, Mr. Tellefsen was named Commissioner of Babe Ruth League, Inc. In September 1980, the International Board of Directors elected him president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Tellefsen is survived by his wife Loretta, his son Steven, and his two daughters, Deborah Small and Eileen Smiegocki.
