WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (April 5, 2005) – The inaugural Western Region Challenger Division Jamboree will be take place over Memorial Day weekend, May 28-29, in Dublin, Calif.

Hosted by California District 57, and Dublin Little League, located in the San Francisco Bay area, this regional event will welcome Challenger Division teams from throughout the Western Region.

Teams hailing from Arkansas, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and California have been extended invitations to participate.

“We hope to welcome about 50 teams for this event,” Dave Wetmore, California district 57 administrator, said. “Should more than 50 wish to come, we will certainly be glad to host and accommodate. Leagues in the district have been talking about doing this for a number of years, and now we’re hoping that teams from throughout the Western Region will join us.”

The weekend-long event will begin with opening ceremonies on May 28, and feature plenty of baseball and fun, including tours to local attractions, pin-trading, and an appearance by the Oakland Athletics mascot, Stomper.
