Little League Mourns the Passing of Randy Hein

Little League International joins the players, league officials and volunteers of Lincoln (R.I.) Little League in mourning the passing of Randall C. Hein.

Randy Hein, 57, a manager and coach in the Lincoln Little League, passed away on Monday, Sept. 25.

“For 30 years, Mr. Hein was a dedicated, humble and unassuming supporter of the Little League program,” Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League Baseball and Softball, said. “As a volunteer coach and manager, he embraced his responsibility as a role model to the children of the Lincoln Little League. His commitment to the community and belief in the Little League program will live on in the hearts and minds of the players he coached and the local league volunteers that came to call him friend. Little League International offers its solemn condolences to his family and to all those associated with Lincoln Little League.”

On two occasions (2001 and 2004) Lincoln Little League has reached the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Mr. Hein was a coach with the team that won the 2001 New England Region championship, and he was manager of 2004 region champions.

A viewing for Mr. Hein will be held on Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bellows-Falso Funeral Home, 160 River Road, Lincoln, R.I. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Judes Church.
