First Name is Drawn for Little League
World Series Title Game Tickets
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (April 10, 2008) – In the
Council Chambers at Williamsport City Hall, Williamsport Mayor Gabriel
J. Campana recently selected the first winning name in the annual
Little League Baseball World Series ticket lottery.
This August, Little League International will mark the 62nd
anniversary of the Little League Baseball World Series.
William Schoff of Penfield, N.Y., will receive four tickets to the
Little League Baseball World Series World Championship Game, set for
Aug. 24 at Howard J. Lamade Stadium, site of every World Series since
1959. He also will receive four World Series caps, t-shirts, trading
pins, souvenir programs and museum admissions as a bonus for being the
first participants selected.

| The Little League Baseball World Series annually draws more
than 300,000 spectators. Admission to the 32-game tournament is
free and seating at Howard J. Lamade Stadium is first come, first
served with the exception of the semifinal, U.S and International
Championship Games and World Championship Game. Seating for those
games is coordinated through a ticket lottery where people wishing
to attend the World Championship Game send in letters requesting
up to four tickets. This year, William Schoff of Penfield, N.Y.,
was the first lottery winner. |
“I attended the Little League World Series in 2005 and again in 2007,
but this is the first time I sent a letter into the ticket lottery,”
Mr. Schoff said. “The times I went to the World Series got me even
more interested in Little League. I was so excited, that I thought it
would be fun to see the championship game from inside Lamade Stadium.”
Each year, those desiring tickets for the World Championship Game
prepare a letter requesting up to four tickets for the final game. The
letter must be received at Little League International between the end
of the previous year’s World Series and the close of business on the
last day of February to be considered. The letter submitted by Mr.
Schoff was the first drawn from more than 1,500 entries.
Little League International will notify (by mail) those individuals
selected to receive tickets from the lottery process. Those whose
entries are not chosen will receive a postcard saying they may still
attend the Championship Game, watching from the terraced hills beyond
the outfield fence where tickets are not required. While tickets for
certain areas of the stadiums are required, they are not required for
other sections for most games and there is never an admission charge
to any Little League World Series game.
“The ticket lottery is a fun way for people to enjoy everything the
Little League World Series has to offer,” Scott Rosenberg, Little
League International’s Director of Public Relations, said. “The chance
to visit the Little League International complex, and be a part of the
World Championship Game is a memorial experience. But, everyone should
remember, even if you don’t have a ticket, you can always come to any
World Series game and enjoy the greatest youth sporting event in the
world.”
The 2008 Little League Baseball World Series begins on Aug. 15.
