International Tournament Tip of the Day –
Tip 2
Announcement of and Practice by the Tournament Team
The names of the participants on a Tournament Team (All Stars)
cannot be released prior to the date prescribed in the Tournament
Rules and Regulations in any form to anyone outside of the Board of
Directors of the local Little League. Any announcement prior to the
prescribed date is likely to result in the participants being
declared ineligible for Tournament play.
The prescribed date for most teams is June 15. The only exception is
for participants in the 9-10-Year-Old Division, or the
10-11-Year-Old Division. For teams in those divisions, the
announcement date can be either two weeks prior to the start of the
tournament, or June 15, whichever is earlier.
The players’ performance during the regular season should give ample
opportunity for all of those involved in the Tournament Team
selection process to make their decisions. However, some leagues may
wish to conduct tryouts, which must be open to any eligible player.
Important note: The earliest possible date for practices,
INCLUDING TRYOUTS, for the Tournament Team (All Stars), are the same
as for the announcement of the teams.
More information on the announcement of and practice by the
Tournament Team can be found in the Tournament Rules and Guidelines,
on Pages T-5 and T-8.
