Cat Osterman Continues to Grow Her Collection of Softball Accolades

NPFCatOstermanPitching_300px(Dec. 11, 2009) - Former Bear Creek Little League softball player, Cat Osterman, has added another accomplishment to her already impressive softball resume.  Ms. Osterman is one of the 30 softball athletes named to the ESPN RISE All-Decade Team.  Along with being selected to the team, she was selected as the “ESPN Rise Player of the Decade”.   Four current National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) players were also named:  Monica Abbott (Florida Pride), Caitlin Cochran (Akron Racers), Kristie Fox (Chicago Bandits), and Caitlin Lowe (Florida Pride).

Prior to Ms. Osterman’s start in softball, she played soccer and basketball.  She participated with Bear Creek’s Little League softball team as pitcher. Her passion for softball began when she asked her parents for pitching lessons for her 11th birthday.  From that point, Ms. Osterman nurtured her talent for the game.  As a senior in high school she was named Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year.

While at the University of Texas, Ms. Osterman was a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American, three-times was selected as the Big 12 Conference Female Athlete of the Year and was chosen as four times as the Big 12’s Pitcher of the Year - becoming the first Big 12 student-athlete across all sports to earn a player of the year honor four times.

At the conclusion of the NPF Championship Series, won by the Rockford Thunder, Ms. Osterman was chosen as the tournament MVP after picking up all of the Thunder’s victories. The Rockford ace allowed only two runs, one earned, in her five playoff starts as the Thunder won it first championship.

During the NPF offseason, Ms. Osterman is an assistant coach with DePaul University.
