Life-Long Memories Are About To Be Made

There may still be snow on the field in some parts of the U.S., but the Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® seasons will soon begin. No matter if your Little Leaguers® are new to the program or if they have a few seasons already under their belt, what they, and you, as parents, are about to experience is something so very special. Little League is often the first page of a person’s life-long scrapbook, and we encourage you to get ready to fill it with memories that will last forever.

For most, registrations, tryouts, and drafts are over. Gloves are being broken in, equipment is being dusted off, and dreams are beginning. Your children are about to meet new friends, communities will convene, fields will be manicured, and the smell of hot dogs from the concession stand will soon fill the air at parks everywhere.

There’s nothing like seeing kids spending time with their pals while enjoying the sport they love, but there is so much more to the Little League program than what happens between the white lines. Little League fields are like extended classrooms where character-building instruction is taught, including how to be courteous and fair, why it’s important to respect authority, and how to win and lose graciously. These are life lessons, not baseball or softball lessons.

Please take a moment to click here and read an article from Commodore Perry Little League’s president, Tracy Ferry. It sums up the Little League experience very well. If you’ve been in the Little League program before, you will recognize and appreciate her story. If you’re new to the program, here’s a sneak peek at some of the great things you can expect. For those signed up for the 2014 season, The Parent Connection welcomes you to Little League!
