Make the 75th Anniversary of Little League® Part of Your Season

Make the 75th Anniversary of Little League® Part of Your Season

When Carl E. Stotz organized the first Little League® season for 30 children in Williamsport, Pa., in 1939, he started a youth sports movement. Now, 75 years later, on Little League diamonds around the world, millions of boys and girls will have the opportunity to come together to participate in healthy competition and camaraderie.

Little League International has started celebrating its 75th Anniversary, and local leagues and volunteers have begun to bring that celebration home to local ball fields.

This year, you might see some new 75th patches on uniforms or special Anniversary banners at your league’s events, like Co-Op City Little League displayed at their registration this year in the Bronx, N.Y. You might see some alumni invited to participate in Opening Ceremonies or your league might have “throwback” uniforms. These are just some of the plans that local leagues have to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Little League. You can read about other ideas in the Anniversary Celebration Guide.

Whether you’re one of the 35 million people who played Little League as a child, or you’re supporting your children during their Little League career, this is our anniversary. It belongs to all of our players, parents, alumni and fans. The 75th Anniversary will be celebrated all summer long at special events around the world, including one on the actually anniversary of the first Little League game ever played, June 6. Continue to check LittleLeagueBigLegacy.com for updates on events; stories about Little League players and volunteers; and important moments from the history of Little League.

We invite you to be part of the festivities. You can help combine the past and the present by assisting your league and community organize its celebrations for our 75th Anniversary. Contact your local league officials if you want to volunteer to help commemorate this milestone.

And, don’t forget to share your favorite Little League memories with the Little League Big Legacy Project. For every moment uploaded to our photo mosaic, Little League is donating $1, up to $50,000, to support Pitch In For Baseball, a non-profit organization that helps provide equipment to local baseball and softball programs in need.

With your help, we can make this year the best Little League season in our 75-year history. As always, we thank you for your interest in and support for Little League.
