Announcing Concession Stand Contest Winner!
The first-ever Confessions of a Concession Stand Contest has come to a close. Volunteers from all over the country weighed in with why their concession stand sticks out among the rest. From traditional ball park staples like burgers and hot dogs, to the more exotic “Walking Tacos” and “Tomato Pies,” the variety among menus shows the uniqueness, hard work and hours Little League® volunteers dedicate to making their concession stand a hit.

Congratulations to the concession stand at Boone National Little League from Boone, Iowa for claiming the first-place title in this year’s contest. Their unique menu selection ranged from cinnamon sugar pretzels with homemade frosting to the crowd-favorite “walking taco,” where customers can pick from three different size bags of tortilla chips and add any combination of meat, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, jalapeño peppers and salsa.

The much-loved concession stand would not have reached such success without the dedicated team of volunteers behind the counter who strive to bring the best Little League experience to all of their customers.

“Our concession stand is special because we have a core team that works alongside the parents,” said volunteer Lisa Hoffman. “We have an expanded menu. We make special orders and try our best to please each and every customer.”

The “core team” Hoffman mentions dedicates much of its time supporting her league’s concession stand. To show their lighter side, Hoffman’s group created this humorous video titled, “12 Days of Little League” which shows the sense of community and dedication put into their local league as well as the fun everyone has while doing it.

“Whenever Little League graduates share their favorite memories, they always seem to mention the friends they made, the fun competition, and the food and refreshments at their local league’s concession stand,” said Megan Day, Little League International’s Communications Coordinator. “The concession stand is part of the total Little League experience, and we congratulate Boone National Little League for making theirs a place Little Leaguers will remember for a very long time.”

As the first place winners, the Boone National Little League concession stand will receive a $100 gift card to Sam’s Club. The two runners up, East Norriton Little League of Norristown, Pennsylvania and Woonsocket Little League of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, will each receive a $50 gift card to Sam’s Club. Sam’s Club is the Official Warehouse Club of Little League.
