Do You Know the Next Little League® Mom of the Year?

Little League® could not run without the time and dedication of our Little League moms. From coaches to District Administrators, concession stand workers to ride share organizers, moms are some of the most tireless volunteers in the organization.

Every year since 1991, Little League International has recognized one woman with the Little League Mom of the Year Award. It’s our way to say thank you to the millions of volunteers out there who are taking their Little Leaguers to practice, umpiring games, filling out line up cards and so much more. What makes the Little League Mom of the Year award even more special is that the nominations don’t come from their peers, but rather their children.

“I had no idea I was even nominated,” said Chrissy Lisle, 2009 Little League Mom of the Year and volunteer at Apopka (Fla.) Little League. “When I found out that I was going to be honored as Mom of the Year, it hit home for me because now I know my kids are paying attention and realize how much work goes into all of this.”

As we inch closer to the 2014 season, and as leagues are in the midst of organizing, now is the time to start thinking about the 2014 Little League Mom of the Year. Nominees could be a fellow volunteer, your spouse or even you. Nominations are now being accepted, so ask your Little Leaguers® to nominate their mom. The Mom of the Year will be honored at the 2014 Little League Baseball® World Series in South Williamsport, Pa.

"There are certainly many moms across the world who are deserving of this award," said Tyler Prewitt, 2010 Mom of the Year and volunteer at Eastern Little League in Lexington, Ky. "When I received the call notifying me that I had won the award, I was humbled and excited. To be honored as Mom of the Year by an organization such as Little League is incredible. Accepting a national award of this caliber on behalf of all Little League moms adds even more meaning."
