Last Minute Gifts for Your Little Leaguer®

Another great year is almost to a close, which means it’s gift-giving season! Here are some last minute ideas for the Little Leaguers on your list.

At Bat:

While a new bat is always a nice gift, another great idea is a new bat bag. A wheeled option is a good way to go with someone toting a lot of gear, but even a simple bat backpack is useful for any Little Leaguer. If you want to stuff the bag, batting gloves almost never last a whole season, and are a great, useful gift at every level of baseball and softball. If you’re looking for a bat weight, remember batting donuts are not allowed in Little League®. Opt for a weighted sleeve instead.

In the Field:

Before buying a new ball glove, consider adding life to your Little Leaguer’s current one. Looking at leather conditioners and repair kits are good ways to keep that well-loved glove in action for another season. If you’re looking for a bigger gift, a practice net can help elevate your backyard drills for both offense and defense. Make sure the net has a rectangle “strike zone” that can be used to improve throwing accuracy. A reaction ball can also be a great training aid to wrap up this holiday season. Another fun, on-the-field gift for any player is eye black. Either the traditional paint or stick-on strips make for a perfect last-minute gift for your baseball or softball player.

At Home:

If you’re looking for something off-the-field for your Little Leaguer, the Little League Store is the only place to get all your official Little League shirts, hats and merchandise. Also, check out the new Matt Christopher Little League Book Series. The third novel, State Showdown, was released this fall. For parents, Little League International Board of Directors Member, Dr. James Andrews, new book, Any Given Monday, is a great resource on sports injuries and how to prevent them. It’s also a great time to think of those Little Leaguers who might not be as fortunate. Giving back to your local league, or donating to Pitch In For Baseball to help other Little Leaguers around the world, is another wonderful gift-giving idea this holiday season.

No matter who is on your shopping list this year, the best gift you can give your Little Leaguers is some time in the backyard playing catch, making it to their games and encouraging them to play fair, strive to win and do their best. From everyone at Little League, we wish you and your family the happiest of holidays!
