League Bulletin Board: News & Notes for the Quorum

While the fun and excitement of the regular season continues, there is still plenty of information and other items to be aware of as Tournament season is only weeks away. As you prep for the postseason, remember that your league can, and is encouraged to, keep providing an enjoyable Little League experience for children not participating in district competition.

2017 Tournament Enrollment:

Local leagues and districts, chartered for the 2017 season, must log onto the Little League® Data Center to enroll in the 2017 Little League International Tournament. The Enroll in Tournament link is available ONLY to leagues and districts that are eligible for tournament participation. Leagues must confirm background checks are done on all required volunteers, including when temporary replacement of a manager or coach is necessary. For leagues and districts which have already enrolled in the 2017 International Tournament and wish to update its tournament enrollment form, use the Change Tournament Enrollment option.

An assortment of 2017 tournament resources are available online through the Tournament Toolkit.

2017 ASAP Information for Hosting Tournaments:

Tournament rules require that the host of a section, division, region, or World Series tournament have an approved A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) safety plan. ALL safety plans must be submitted with the Qualified Safety Plan Registration form. A league’s safety plan WILL NOT be shown as approved without the form stating who is submitting it, and where the 15 minimum requirements can be found in the league(s) plan. Also, check the Little League® Data Center to confirm the leagues that have completed all of the required background checks through the First Advantage background check tool. REMINDER: Little League International strongly recommends that district tournament sites have an approved ASAP plan as well.

Little League® Patches:

The Little League® official shoulder patch is the only recognized identification which sets a Little Leaguer® apart from all other children who play baseball and softball. Use of the Official Patch is mandatory for all divisions of Little League for both regular season and tournament play.

Patches are worn three inches below the left shoulder seam on raglan sleeves, and one inch below the seam on set-in sleeves, and over the left breast on sleeveless jerseys. The umpire patch is worn four inches below the left shoulder seam on set-in sleeves. The jacket patch is worn over the left breast six inches below the shoulder seam.

Little League Baseball, Incorporated is the exclusive owner of Little League trademarks and the only authorized party to manufacture, merchandise, distribute, and sell Little League Keystone patches. Any reproduction, redistribution, reselling, repurpose, or creation of imitation/counterfeit Little League Keystone patches are strictly prohibited. Little League Baseball, Incorporated will conduct and pursue investigative measures to eliminate any illegal patch activity noted above.

New Lighting Standards:

Little League® International has updated its lighting standards for fields and facilities where local Little League programs play games and conducted local league activities.

Little League® International Tournament Logo:

The 2017 Little League® International Tournament Logo is now available to local leagues and districts. Questions and permission regarding logo usage are to be directed to Eric Hill (570-326-1921; Extension 2266) in the Little League International Licensing Department. Little League's registered marks, logos, names and characters can assist your league with drawing attention and interest from members of the community. However, it is important to remember that local leagues cannot enter into agreements allowing the usage of Little League’s name or trademarks without first consulting with Little League International.
